The owner, Giulio, comes from the Amalfi coast, and you’ll find Neapolitan-style pizzas, cooked in their woodburning oven. Good ice cream and some decent puddings, too.
What a wonderful find! Exactly what you would hope to find in Italy, but in the middle of the Cambridgeshire countryside.
A friendly welcome with no agenda about rushing us started the evening off well. When we were ready to eat, the gorgeous waitress was extremely patient as we took our time to choose. The food was great. Perhaps the meat antipasti was a bit too vinegary, but it was made up for by the excellent mixed grill, which is making my mouth water as I type.
Good wine selection, and also a great Tiramisu.
Friendly, chatty welcome from the owner – we weren’t hurried away at the end.
Very impressed – will be back.
We visited La Pergola yesterday as a group of five with a wheelchair user. The booking process was simple and Rosa both replied to my email and greeted us in person. The food and facilities are excellent, the service was very good and we spent a wonderful afternoon in the restaurant and then finished with tea and coffee in the well tended garden.
We were 4 Italian guys and we ate really amazing food, the place was comfortable and the person who has served us was really friendly he introduced his wife to us and both of them were really friendly. He always asked us how was our food and he delivered really good service. I am sure I’ll go again as soon as possible as the night has been really wonderful night
“Our first visit was as a family for a Sunday lunch. The set menu meals were fantastic for adults and kids. We have also taken my elderly parents along and they loved the pizza, saying it was the best pizza they’d ever had.
The profiteroles are certainly fantastic!
In fact all of the food I have tried so far is delicious. I am yet to have something that doesn’t taste fantastic.”
“La Pergola is by far the best Restaurant in Cambridge. Food ingredients are of highest quality, some even home grown! Carbonara was the best I had in years and meat selection sourced straight from Italy. Can’t wait to go back and try their famous Sunday roast.”
“Been to this family run restaurant numerous times and never had a bad meal or service. Staff are always friendly, and the freshly prepared food is excellent (they grow their own ingredients). Definitely recommend the pizza, as it’s one of the best you’ll find – the wood fired oven makes a difference. Certainly worth the trip there, and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone.”
