We’re reopening on the 4th of July 2020!
We’re pleased to announce that from the 4th of July we will be re-opening.
Tables in the restaurant can be booked online using our table reservation system.
While we are excited to be re-opening, our number one commitment remains the welfare of our guests and employees. We will be implementing extra measures in order to ensure that both guests and employees will be dining and working in a safe environment.
These measures include the following:
- Reducing our seating capacity to ensure that all tables are spaced at least 1 metre from the backs of the chairs
- Conducting temperature checks on all staff members at the start of each shift
- Providing our staff with full visors and where appropriate, face masks
- Using single-use disposable menus
- Implementing a one-way system for entry and exit into the premises
- Limiting the number of people allowed into the bar area so as to allow adequate space for customers to leave the premises
Booking for the restaurant is highly advised – this will make it easier for us to maintain records required for track and trace.
In addition, and where possible, we would encourage our customers to:
- Use the hand sanitiser units when entering the premises
- Wear a face mask while not at your table
- Maintain social distance whilst on the premises
- Pay by Card
We look forward to welcoming you, and whilst things may be a little different, our mission remains the same…Authentic, Italian Food, Cooked with Love and Served with Care
‘La Pergola’ is a family run business that prides itself on serving quality, authentic Italian food in a relaxed and family-friendly environment.
Proprietors, Giulio and Maria De Simone originate from a small village close to the coastal town of Sorrento in Southern Italy. Having been involved in various Restaurant ventures around Cambridge, Giulio’s ambition was to create an Italian Pizzeria and Restaurant. In August 2007 La Pergola opened it’s doors to their first diners. Today the Restaurant is managed by Giulio’s daughter Rosa and her husband, Domenico, while Giulio’s son Tony runs the adjoining Pub, ‘The Wheatsheaf’.
The emphasis at La Pergola is on going back to Giulio and Maria’s, Italian roots. As well as using good quality ingredients sourced from Italy, many of the items on the menu are homemade, such as the bread, pork, and fennel sausages, the antipasti pickles, and the sauces used in the Pasta dishes. The allotment that adjoins the Restaurant is cultivated by the family and from Spring through to late Autumn many of the vegetables, herbs, and salad produce used in the kitchen are homegrown.
As well as the vegetables that are cultivated on the allotment the land is also home to a brood of hens – so where possible free-range eggs are used in the restaurant dishes. The wild mushrooms are picked locally, but the exact location is a closely guarded secret!
La Pergola has a wood-burning pizza oven – the pizzas have a distinctive taste that is only achieved in a clay oven. The pizza dough is made fresh every morning and Pizzas are available every lunchtime and evening, either to eat in or takeaway.
La Pergola is open for Lunch from Tuesday to Sunday (12 – 2.30 p.m). At lunchtime, diners can choose from a range of Traditional Italian and British dishes.
Dinner is served from Tuesday to Saturday evenings from 6 p.m to 9 p.m. Children are welcome at all times. Large parties and events can be catered for, and we also offer an outside catering service.
